Morning!

I have a free at school at the moment so thought I'd use my time productively and submit a post on my blog. I have loads more photos to put on to show everyone what've been up to but I'll have to do that on the weekend. Right now I only have this to say: I'M GOING TO BARCELONA!!!! How exciting is that? I'm going at the end of May and I can't wait, tickets and accommodation is booked. I'm planning to go on a cycle tour of the city amongst other things like seeing the sights, the beach, Gaudi's architecture and all other gothic architecture in the city, YAY. Oh and there will be photos.

Off to invigilate, bye for now.

RICHMOND PARK
This park is huge. It has two types of deer, fallow deer and red deer. It's so invigorating to be in an open space after the intensity of the city. Adam thought I was mad to get so excited about the it but he had of course just arrived from die suid. This was during the day on Sunday before we left for Ireland.

So, these photos are from before the easter holidays. They are from Oxford/ Cambridge boatrace 2006 which was on 2 April. I know the prder of events here in London are now out of chronological order but you're all bright and can fit it all together in the order of how things happened, plus I give excellent directions (see above) if you are still confused ask someone who can explain it to you and just pretend you knew all along.

Anyway this first pic is of Boatman Billy, Kate, Fiona and me.

Mini explanation: we booked tickets to watch the race from a party boat on the Thames. After a few hours of people smoking inside a boat and too much doof doof from the Dj I'd had enough so I made friends with the crew (Billy, Captain Steve and Andy) when the girls saw that chilling in the cabin with the crew with the perfect view, fresh air, snacks and entertianing company was far more fun they came and joined me. We had a great time, it beat the smokey atnosphere in the rest of the boat by miles, and I met some sailors :)

When we embarked for the afternoon each person was given a cocktail. We all had to wear blue by the way that's why we match. For those of you who don't know this is Sarah Kelly in the photo with me, she went to Rhodes but we never really knew each other though we had mutual friends. Anyway we live together in London with 2 other people.
Turns out that the crew have party favours in the cabin. I dug in and think I got the best deal, the musketeer hat wins hands down to the cartoon eyes and shaker don't you think?
This is the boat we were on and there's Captain Steve, bye Thames Princess.

Oh by the way, Oxford won.

Back at school today after the easter holiday. It's good so far, I've had two frees so there aren't any screaming children giving me a headache, thank goodness. I won't hold my breath though they'll be here shortly.

Hope everyone had a happy easter. Tammy's visiting me at the moment from Jhb which is really cool. Planning a trip for the public holiday on 29 May, just for the long weekend so when I've decided where I'm off to I'll let you all know and make you GREEN with envy.

This blog thing is quite absurd, having one's pointless ramblings on the net for anyone and their 2nd cousin once removed to read, very self indulgent, narcissus is in all of us and he's laughing.

The Orange Umbrella!

We'd just been on the London Eye and in true English spring time fashion it was raining, perfect photo opportunity next to the Thames.

Hi everyone

Been in London for 2 months now and things are going okay. I've been supply teaching in a variety of schools. At some having large bins of water thrown at you is perfectly normal while at others the teachers are actually greeted when they are met by the students, pretty normal if you ask me but a rather rare event here. It's quite an experience and I'm glad I can see what it's really like because despite all the horror stories it's not that bad, it's manageable, you learn a lot and it sure does make you appreciate home.

I've done a few touristy things and been to a couple of shows, the latest being the lion king!
The past 10 days have been school holidays and I got visitors from home. We went to Ireland and then gallavanted around London and the outskirts for the other 4 days. They leave tomorrow evening, ah :( Today we went on the London Eye and went to 2 exhibitions, one of actual human bodies which have been preserved (see bodiesexhibition.com I think) and the other was a Michelangelo exhibtion of his drawings, but drawings that have not been seen together since they were all in his studio many years ago, very exciting. We then ended the day with a trip to trafalgar square, very productive.

It's back to school on Wednesday...so just 2 more days of holiday. Hope everyone's well and happy easter!

Sarah

PS I'll post photos asap and note the orange umbrella, it's a welcome flash of happiness and sunshine on a rainy pommie day.
